About Us

About Klaich Animal Hospital in Reno

Klaich Animal Hospital in Reno is a veterinary hospital for wellness exams, vaccinations, orthopedic surgery, and dental cleaning. We use diagnostics and an itemized estimate to separate what is urgent from what is elective, then you agree with a clear plan — not a single take-it-or-leave-it package.

The hospital keeps digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, laser therapy, and an in-house laboratory on site, so cruciate repair and hip dysplasia surgery do not start with a referral you did not ask for. For senior pet care and euthanasia, we treat the conversation as care: options, time to think, and no pressure to decide in the lobby. Appointments are required; call (775) 826-1212.

What Pet Parents Say

Real Pets, Real Care

I have been taking my dog here for years, she sees Dr.(s) Bertucci and they’re fantastic. But today, while bringing her in for her annual lab work, I witnessed something I found to be marvelous and profoundly impressive. An entire family rushed in their injured dog who was clearly in distress, family members and children in tears, and the staff reacted so quickly, calmly and efficiently. Immediately got the dog and family back for care. The waiting room was packed, they’re handling emergencies, and still managed to squeeze my dog in for an additional vaccine she was due for despite it not being scheduled. Over the years I have particularly admired Janelle (pardon if the name is incorrect, she has dark hair and a warm smile). Everyone there is patient, kind and attentive. Highly recommend to anyone in the Reno area. Every single one of you is amazing! What you all do matters SO much.

We really like this veterinarian clinic, they have seen several of our pets over the years. We had to put down an old friend and they are the most professional, understanding, kind, patient and giving people. This one was hard for both of us and the staff did an excellent job handling our specific situation 👏 👍 thank you.

How Much Does Wellness Exams & Vaccinations Cost in Reno?

How Much Does Wellness Exams & Vaccinations Cost in Reno?

A Reno wellness visit plus core vaccines for one dog or cat typically lands in the low-to-mid hundreds for the year, not a single mystery number — exam, vaccine boosters, and any senior panel or fecal test are billed as separate lines. Ask for an itemized estimate before the appointment so you can see what is due today versus what can wait.

How Much Does Orthopedic Surgery Cost in Reno?

How Much Does Orthopedic Surgery Cost in Reno?

Orthopedic surgery in Reno — cruciate repair, hip dysplasia surgery, or fracture repair — often reaches the multi-thousand-dollar range once diagnostics, anesthesia, implants, and aftercare are itemized, which is why a high quote for an older dog can feel like pay-or-euthanasia. Get a written estimate that separates imaging from the surgery itself, then use a second opinion on non-emergencies before you decide.

How Much Does Veterinary Dentistry Cost in Reno?

How Much Does Veterinary Dentistry Cost in Reno?

Veterinary dentistry in Reno is priced around an anesthetized dental cleaning plus whatever extractions the mouth actually needs, so a modest cleaning quote can jump mid-procedure when many teeth come out. Set a hard extraction budget before anesthesia, and ask what happens if they hit that cap — wake-up and a second visit, or a call for consent.

FAQ

Questions new pet parents ask

What is the average cost of a wellness exam?

There is no honest single number, because species, vaccine boosters, and whether bloodwork or a senior panel is due all change the invoice. We give an itemized estimate before those extras are added so you can keep the wellness exam itself and decline optional screening. Ask us to separate the exam from labs and vaccines when you book.

What does a full wellness exam include?

A wellness exam is a hands-on check of eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, abdomen, joints, and skin, plus a talk about diet, parasite prevention, and what you have noticed at home. Vaccines, fecal tests, heartworm tests, and bloodwork are recommended when they fit that pet, not as one locked bundle. You can accept the exam and pause on optional diagnostics.

Are wellness exams free with insurance?

Usually not at checkout. Pet insurance and wellness plans differ, and many reimburse you after the visit rather than making the exam free here. Bring your coverage details and we will itemize the invoice so you can submit the exam, bloodwork, or vaccines; declining a test you cannot afford is not treated as a character test.

Will urgent care do a wellness exam?

Urgent care is for the pet who is sick, injured, or not acting like themselves today, not a stand-in for a scheduled wellness visit. If your Reno pet needs vaccines or a routine exam, book a wellness appointment so preventative care is not squeezed into a sick-pet slot. If it cannot wait, call (775) 826-1212 and we will tell you whether to come in for urgent care or hold for a wellness exam.

What is the child vaccination schedule in Nevada?

Klaich Animal Hospital is a veterinary hospital in Reno, so we do not set or give the human childhood vaccination schedule for Nevada. For that timeline, ask your child's pediatrician or your county health department. For pets, we build a vaccine plan around the animal in front of us — core shots, lifestyle risk, and what is already on the record — and we explain each one before it is given.

Is 7 days too late for rabies vaccine after a bite exposure?

Do not wait on a calendar guess from a website. If a person was bitten, call public health or a physician; if a pet was exposed or did the biting, call us the same day with the bite details and any prior rabies certificates. Timing follows public-health rules and that animal's vaccine history, not a one-size seven-day answer.
