A Considered Practice

Medicine is at its best when a physician has the time to listen, the panel small enough to remember, and the independence to answer to the patient alone.

What to Expect

§ 06

From first conversation to continuous care

A calm, documented path — nothing signed until you have met the physicians and seen how the practice works.

  1. 01

    Book a consultation

A private, no-obligation conversation — at the clinic or by phone. Meet the physicians, tour the practice, and ask anything about how membership works.

  2. 02

A first hour that earns the name

Your intake visit runs a full hour: complete history, baseline bloodwork, and the questions a fifteen-minute appointment never leaves room for.

  3. 03

    Your annual care plan

Screenings scheduled, risks mapped, goals written down — one document your physician maintains and reviews with you each quarter.

  4. 04

    Cared for, continuously

Same-day visits when you are ill, the line when you are worried, and coordination whenever a specialist enters the picture.

The Measured Year

§ 07

What membership actually changes

Not promises — how the practice measured itself over the last membership year.

0 days
typical wait for an appointment — members are seen same-day
62 min
average length of a physician visit, timed across the year
98%
of member households renewed their membership this year
11 min
median response on the physician line, day or night
  • The 9 PM phone call

A member called the physician line at nine on a Sunday about a feverish toddler. Her own doctor answered, talked her through the evening, and saw the child at 8 AM — no urgent-care waiting room, no stranger.

  • The physical that fit a working week

A founder two weeks from a funding round completed his full executive assessment — diagnostics, imaging review, physician debrief — in a single scheduled morning, with the written report in hand by Friday.

  • The referral that took two days, not two months

When a screening flagged something worth a specialist’s eyes, we booked the consult within 48 hours, sent the full record ahead, and reviewed the findings with the member the same week.

“If you are looking for a Concierge and Functional Medicine clinic then Dr. Louis Ramos is definitely it! If you are interested in health, wellness, and fitness Dr. Ramos has extreme knowledge in this field. I’m currently on a plan and are seeing significant changes. Not to mention, he is always prompt in his response time when helping with anything you need answered or renewed. Thanks again for your service to your clients!”

“I cannot say enough good things about Dr Ramos. He is extremely personable, very knowledgeable, took a strong interest in my goals, helped me dial in what I am looking for, and a quick responder to all inquiries. This is a great place to get a V02max/Threshold test! I am a US National Team rower and have competed for several years internationally representing Team USA. I missed our team’s VO2 testing due to recovering from surgery. At this year’s first domestic race, I knew I had not come back to full strength but was unsure of why/what was missing. I called several places in the Austin area looking to do a threshold (AT) test. Dr Ramos responded to my voicemail first thing in the morning on Tuesday and I was in his office doing the test that Friday. He knew time was of the essence, so he adjusted his schedule and got me in ASAP which I thoroughly appreciated! He, along with his colleague Dr Ed (exercise physiologist at Southwestern U), altered the standard step test to really dial in where my AT point was (fantastic!!). This coupled with a VO2 max test identified what I lost during my recovery period. I was given the appropriate charts and graphs to discuss with my coach who agreed that I needed a bit more of an individualized training plan. Now, a week and a half later, I can confidently say the suggestions I got were spot on. I am not back to where I was or where I want to be, but my coach and I see that I am trending the correct way thanks to the data I received from Austin Medical Partners! Also, parking was breeze because he offers validation for the garage next door.”

“Dr. Ramos provided excellent care. He responds my messages quickly, took his time and explained everything to me carefully so I understood everything, addressed all my concerns, and advocated for me when other doctors didn’t. I wish I can still be his patient but I moved away.”

“I have been a patient of Dr. Ramos for just under a year and have been extremely satisfied with the care I have been receiving. Dr. Ramos easily checks all the boxes of what you would expected of a concierge physician, such as accessibility, flexible scheduling, extended office visits, etc. What I find that sets Dr. Ramos apart, however, is his approach to the practice of medicine, health, and wellness. In my work with him, Dr. Ramos has become more of a collaborative partner in my health, wellness, and treatment as opposed to a more prescriptive/directive approach often seen in primary care. I would strongly recommend Dr. Ramos to anyone who is looking for a better approach to primary care, particularly for those who want to take an active (or proactive) role in their health and wellness. Dr. Ramos will take the time to get to know you, your history, and your goals, and join with you on that journey. Whether you are looking to engage in weight loss, improving fitness, have chronic conditions, or simply do not have the time to engage in traditional primary care, I have full confidence that Dr. Ramos will be able to partner with you in helping you reach your goals.”

“Absolutely wonderful —Dr Ramos is caring, knowledgeable, a great listener and amazingly accessible— imagine feeling sick and talking to your doctor within a couple of hours on the same day. This combination of concierge and functional medicine is just plain terrific. Highest recommendation.”

“I highly recommend Dr. Ramos. Not only is he thorough and detailed about your specific needs, he also stays on top of your other medical providers which keeps them on their toes. Whether you are looking for internal or functional medicine, Dr. Ramos is a such a welcome change from the status quo in health care these days.”

“Do you want a doctor who cares about you? Feels like he is invested in your health as much as you. Then look no further, Dr Ramos is your man. I’m in 30s and I signed up for Dr Ramos practice because I was looking for a GP in the area had terrible experience with a run of mill GP. I had an intake appointment with another doctor that lasted 5 mins and she didn’t examine thoroughly. Lol, my parents and friends are all doctors and I realized I wasn’t finding quality care. Turns out my stomach pain was real and had a mild case of pancreatitis that went undiagnosed. Thanks to Dr Ramos for diagnosing me. I’m in good health but I sometimes life happens. Like I ended up in an ER across the country, Dr ramos was with me every step of the way possibly during his dinner time. If that’s not commitment then what is? Dr ramos is also quite plugged into the medical community in Austin which came in handy more times than one. Over our time together, we’ve got to know each other well. His motivations on why he’s doing what he does is because he really wants to provide the care that he feels his patients deserve. That has become hard in the traditional practice. So he decided to branch out into what he does. Also he’s probably the most responsive doctor I’ve come across other than my mom of course :)”

“Dr. Ramos delivers excellent care through his practice with an attentive and thorough approach. He always allows enough time for all questions or concerns to be addressed and provides a very helpful and personalized care plan. Can't recommend this practice enough!”

“Meeting Dr. Ramos was such a pleasant and welcome surprise. My husband and I were referred to him for routine DEXA and VO2 Max tests. We expected to get a report but what we actually received was way above and beyond our expectations. We did indeed get a detailed report which opened our eyes to an internal picture of how things really are in our body, What blew us away, was the time Dr. Ramos took to explain every little detail in the report and its relevance to us. He really cares and connects to the patients with so much kindness and compassion and is so generous with his time. Getting this kind of personalized health care is such a precious gift at a time when most health care professionals don't have a moment to look up from the screens and charts in front of them. We whole heartedly recommend Dr. Ramos and his clinic. We will definitely be going back to him for followups. Heartfelt thanks, Dr. Ramos!”

“I would love to share my experience thus far with Dr. Ramos at Austin Medical Partners. I have struggled for years to find a Dr. that would actually listen to me and my needs. I don't know about you guys but in my book I count that as priority number one. And if I don't receive that I keep looking for a Dr. that respects me and that aspect of my care with in their practice. Dr. Ramos superseded all of my expectations and went above and beyond to make me feel seen and heard. I came into his practice looking for help to get my weight under control and determine if I had underling issues causing the weight gain. He was able to do testing and blood work needed ASAP. He was then able to look at my over all health quickly. No waiting for weeks or months. Also, Apparently I was over using supplements quite a few were interfering with my medications and actually raising my blood pressure. YIKES!! He made the whole process of getting my Whole Health assessment so much easier and less stressful. When I say whole health I really do mean it! I had my colonoscopy done my all my lady parts checked the whole thing because I had put it off for sometime and then COVID... well it was time. He took care of all of those appointments for me because I asked him too!!! I seriously can't thank him enough. Thankfully all my tests were clean and clear! For now. At 52 I have learned through this process with Dr. Ramos that if I just keep up with my check ups and don't let these things overwhelm me everything will be ok and if something comes up we will navigate the situation together! THE BEST PART with Dr. Ramos help this crazy stressful covid year I actually managed to lose 55 pounds!!! Its just really nice and helpful to have a Dr. that actually listens and really cares about his patient's needs and worries. He really does care and I can call him or text him anytime day or night! that's a true gift. A doctor that truly cares it shows in how he takes care of us. his patients. I'm very grateful to call Dr. Ramos my Doctor. You simple can't go wrong using his practice.”

Membership & Fees

§ 10

Membership, priced in plain language

Concierge medicine replaces volume with time. One transparent annual fee covers the relationship; your existing insurance continues to work exactly where it should.

  1. 01

    One annual membership fee

Billed annually or monthly, per adult, with reduced rates for dependents. It covers your physician’s time: unhurried visits, same-day access, the line, and your annual plan.

  2. 02

Your insurance still does its job

Labs, imaging, specialists, hospitalization, and prescriptions continue to run through your existing health coverage. Membership sits alongside it — it never replaces it.

  3. 03

    HSA & FSA eligible

Many members pay membership fees through health savings or flexible spending accounts. We provide itemized documentation for your administrator each January.

  4. 04

    No surprise line items

No per-visit charges, no fee to call the physician line, no billing for email. If something ever costs extra — a vaccine, an in-clinic test — you hear the price before it happens.

Ways members pay

  • Annual billing
  • Monthly installments
  • Family & household plans
  • HSA / FSA funds
  • Corporate memberships

Considered Questions

§ 12

What people ask before joining

The honest answers, in full sentences — the same ones you would hear at a consultation.

01What exactly does the membership fee cover?

Your membership covers the physician relationship itself: same-day and next-day appointments that run a full hour, direct access to your own doctor on the member line, your written annual care plan with quarterly reviews, in-clinic visits without per-visit charges, and coordination of any specialist care. It is one transparent annual fee — there are no visit fees, phone fees, or email fees on top of it.

02Do I still need health insurance if I join?

Yes. Membership covers your primary care relationship, not the wider medical system. Labs, imaging, specialist visits, hospital care, and prescriptions continue to run through your existing health coverage. Most members keep the plan they already have; we simply take over the role of the primary care practice inside it.

03How is this different from a standard primary care practice?

Three structural differences: time, panel size, and access. Our standard visit is sixty minutes rather than fifteen. Each physician cares for at most 200 households rather than the patients typical in group practice. And when you call — day or night — you reach your own physician, not a triage line. Everything else people notice about the practice follows from those three choices.

04Can my whole family be seen at the practice?

Yes — the practice was designed for households. Physicians care for children and adolescents alongside their parents, and household plans reduce the per-person fee for dependents. Many of our member families have three generations in the practice, which makes coordination — shared histories, hereditary risk, family decisions — dramatically simpler.

05What happens if I need a specialist or end up in hospital?

We stay in the picture. Your physician selects the specialist with you, sends the complete record ahead, and books the appointment — typically within days. After the consult, we read the findings with you and fold them into your care plan. If you are hospitalized, your physician communicates directly with the hospital team and manages the handover home.

06I travel frequently. Does membership still work?

This is where members say it earns its keep. The line works from anywhere, video consultations cover most acute issues abroad, and we prepare travel medication plans and records before long trips. If you need care in another city, we locate the right clinician and brief them before you arrive.

07Is there a waitlist? How quickly can we start?

Because physician panels are capped at 200 households, openings depend on the season — some months we welcome new households immediately, others carry a short waitlist. The consultation itself can almost always be booked within the week, and it holds your place in line without any obligation to join.
