Why Pearl
Anyone can list services. These are the things people actually mention — the ones that make them come back.
Before any treatment beyond the exam, you get a written estimate and a plain-English walkthrough of options — including the do-nothing option. No surprise line items at checkout, ever.
Every doctor and technician holds Fear Free certification. Visits are paced to your pet: non-slip tables, treats before touch, and exam rooms booked long enough that nobody has to be rushed or pinned.
Lab results come with a call from the veterinarian who saw your pet — not a portal notification. Post-surgery, we call you the same evening. Questions between visits get answered by the medical team.
We’re not a chain. The same small team keeps charts on pets from eight weeks to eighteen years — and that continuity is often what catches a problem early.
Meet the team
No rotating cast of strangers. These are the doctors and staff who have run Pearl for years — and the ones who will remember you when you get in touch.

What to expect
From the first call to the follow-up, here’s exactly how a visit works — including the part where you approve the plan before anything happens.
Request a time online or call the front desk. Sick pets get same-day triage; wellness visits are booked within the week, at a time that fits your day.
Your appointment is with a doctor, start to finish. We take a full history, examine nose to tail, and show you what we’re seeing as we go.
Findings, options, and a written estimate — explained before anything happens. You decide what we do today, what can wait, and what to watch.
Results come with a phone call, surgeries with a same-evening check-in, and every plan with clear next steps. We stay on your pet’s story between visits.
Outcomes
Numbers first, then the faces behind them. Every photo below is the good part of the story — the recovery, the follow-up, the going-home.

Reviews
Nobody sums up Pearl better than the people in the waiting room.
“Beyond compassionate. Truly incredible humans here. Thank you ❤️”
“I am so happy that I finally found an excellent Vet here in Boulder - Dr. Hatley is kind and thorough and she literally saved my dog's life by recommending testing that I normally would have been reluctant to do. Lex is also so kind and thoughtful as the point person and always seem to say & suggest the right thing. Can't recommend this team enough - very high touch experience for both of us!”
“They are absolutely amazing and take such good care of my dog! I also love that they are locally founded and owned and not private equity owned like many vets; I feel like the excellent care given to my dog is a direct result of their personal pursuits of high quality care for animals. Cannot say enough good things!”
“Pearl Street Animal Hospital is absolutely wonderful. Dr. Hatley and Dr. Tara and their talented staff truly care about their patients and their medical knowledge is exceptional. I would recommend them to anyone and hope if you are looking for a wonderful Veterinarian in the Boulder area, you choose this hospital. You will not be disappointed. They also see animals in addition to dogs and cats, which is a rare find in the area.”
“We love it here! I just took my lab Blake here for his annual exam and they were great. Dr. Hatley took lots of time explaining all the best preventative things for him to keep him acting like his lovely crazy self for years to come.”
“Very friendly and helpful staff. Always nice to go to the vet and not feel like I'm being judged for feeding a raw diet. My dog loves them too!”
“Just had to take in my turtle cubes in to for a check up and found the little guy need some work! He better now thanks to the wonderful people and doctors here, the doctors are amazing easy to talk to and special thanks to lex for helping me with what I need to do to keep cubes going for a few more years ! 10/10 would recommend”
“Pearl Street Animal Hospital did an amazing job supporting us and giving our guinea pig the utmost care as he crossed the rainbow bridge. Dr. Dedolph and staff were so kind and helpful every time we saw them. They were extremely professional and considerate of an emotionally sensitive situation, and made the experience as peaceful as it could be. They also followed up with a handwritten sympathy card to our family. I would highly recommend them to anyone, and I will definitely be taking my animals to them again in the future.”
“The entire team here is so kind and loving of all the animals in their care. They treat every animal like their own! They are truly awesome. My old dog and my bulldog both love the attention they get when they go there!”
“Dr. McMicking went above and beyond with caring for my dog. Her expertise and knowledge were exceptional, and she was very thorough in explaining how to apply meds and educated me on my dog's issue. I highly recommend Pearl St.”
Pricing & insurance
Veterinary care is a real cost — we believe you should see it coming. Every treatment plan at Pearl starts with a number, not a surprise.
Any care beyond the exam comes with a written estimate you approve first — itemized, explained, and honored.
We complete claim paperwork for all major pet insurance plans the same day and send records directly to your insurer.
Interest-free payment plans on treatment over $500, arranged before care begins — subject to simple approval, never a hard sell.
Questions about a specific plan? Call the front desk — Marcus will check your coverage before your first visit. (720) 287-8467
Service areas
Most of our families are a short drive from 2100 28th St Ste 4ba. If you’re in one of these neighborhoods, you’re in ours.
Questions
Straight answers to the things pet families actually worry about — costs, fear, timing, and what happens behind the door.
Prefer to talk? (720) 287-8467
Usually, yes. We hold same-day urgent slots open every morning, and most urgent calls are seen the same day. Call before you drive over — our team triages by phone, and if your pet needs an emergency hospital instead, we’ll say so honestly and call ahead for you.
The exam fee is quoted when you book, and anything beyond the exam — labs, imaging, treatment — comes as a written estimate you approve before we proceed. You will never learn a price for the first time at checkout.
We work with all major pet insurance plans. You pay at the time of service, and we complete and file the claim paperwork the same day so your reimbursement isn’t stuck waiting on records. Our practice manager can check how your plan handles a treatment before your visit.
This is exactly what our Fear Free certification is for. We schedule longer appointments, use treats and non-slip surfaces, offer feline-only morning blocks with a quiet lobby, and will prescribe pre-visit calming medication when it helps. Many of our most relaxed patients arrived as shaking rescues.
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork, a dedicated technician monitoring anesthesia the entire time, full-mouth digital X-rays (most dental disease hides below the gumline), cleaning and any extractions you pre-approved, then recovery with a nurse beside your pet. You get photos of every stage and a same-evening check-in call.
Very much so. We run feline-only morning blocks — no dogs in the lobby, pheromone-diffused exam rooms, and cat-specific handling. Book a feline block and the loudest thing your cat will hear is the treat bag.
Yes — with your okay we request them before your first appointment, so your first visit starts from your pet’s full history instead of a blank chart. We don’t re-run tests you’ve already paid for unless something has changed.
Our overnight and off-hours calls route to an on-call triage line staffed by veterinary professionals who can see our patients’ charts. For true emergencies they will direct you to the nearest 24-hour hospital and send your records ahead.
Book online in under a minute, or call the front desk — a real person answers during clinic hours.
